“Carol of the Drum” is a traditional Czech Christmas Carol. The tune became popular when American composer Katherine Kennicott Davis added lyrics in 1941 to create “The Little Drummer Boy“.
The melody for “Carol of the Drum” is in the public domain, however the version with Katherine’s “The Little Drummer Boy” lyrics are still under copyright.
This is one I always play at our annual Theatre Organ Society (WA) festive afternoon tea on the first Sunday in December. Having actual drums I can use via the foot pedals helps!
