It was written to perform on a console organ. However, it is only the ending which makes use of more than one octave of the pedal board, and can be simplified if being performed on a spinet organ.

“The Holy City” by Stephen Adams was a song that my father used to play on the organ when I was growing up. He played from an old piano arrangement that had chord symbols. It was one of my favourite songs to hear him play – so much so that when I was 10 years old I arranged a more elaborate organ version myself, which I performed in the 1988 Yamaha Electone Festival, and went through to the State Finals with. I have since digitised my handwritten version, added the lyrics, and fixed up a few inaccuracies. – Simone
